Pavel "Nai'lo" Marsk is a True Neutral Half-Elf Sorceror.
He has a scholarly nature which has developed during the search for information about some mysterious heirlooms left to him by his parents. In addition to his scholarly nature, he spent an extended period of his formative years hiding from and distant to other people, and so has developed a hermit-like attitude toward social situations, leaving him a free thinker who is oblivious to social expectations and etiquette.

As an unfortunate side-effect of this hermit-like attitude, when given access to the delights of modern society, Pavel has a tendency to overindulge. However, he won't let this stop him from seeking out and unlocking the secrets of his Netherese past as presented by the riddle of his family heirlooms which he carries with him at all times.

Pavel is a Half-Elf Sorcerer born in a nondescript human town many moons ago, who left his home shortly after the tragic death of his parents. Having tolerated various levels of persecution and unkindness for his dual nature for all of his life, the loss of his only real attachment to the community seemed to drive an even greater wedge between himself and his neighbours, until they only just came short of open hostility...

He took to wandering the lands searching for a place where he could fit in and find happiness. He believed that if he were to try to settle anywhere populated, he would soon be driven out again. Nursing this insecurity, he drew gradually away from humanity, ranging further and further out into the wilderness.

He accidentally discovered a hidden ruin during his travels in the wilds, which he took it upon himself to stay with and take care of. He reasoned that given enough time alone, he might be able to heal his emotional wounds and return to the world a renewed man...

All throughout his time away from the worries of society, he kept with him several family heirlooms which gave him great comfort during his mourning and healing periods. All of this time spent alone with them prompted a closer inspection, and in doing so he came to gradually understand that these heirlooms were far more than just the innocuous keepsakes they had seemed at first. His innate sorcerous magical potential told him that these were objects of, if not immediate power, then certainly knowledge. If only he could learn to tap into them...

After some time alone, the memories and the pain of his childhood faded and he began to yearn to experience the rest of the world and to learn more about his family heirlooms. So leaving his ruin in the comfortable embrace of it's hidden seclusion, he set out once again on his journey, making his way from one place to the next seeking more knowledge and understanding of his family heirlooms in the hope that it would allow him to find somewhere he belonged after all.

After much study, he did come to learn more of his heirlooms... They dated right back to the Nethril Empire, as did his bloodline, which partially stemmed from an unfortunately as-yet unidentified Netherese Arcanist. His studies of the Nethril Empire and his own heritage within it granted him many insights into the heirlooms, as once he had learned Netherese he was able to translate much of the writings they depicted. Additionally, his understanding of the language brought with it a peculiar shift in thinking, which allowed him to also gradually perceive less obvious aspects about them.

Then finally he was able to come to a shocking understanding. One of his heirlooms contained instructions for a spell. It wasn't immediately obvious upon translating the text, as Netherese Mages used a form of Magic that behaved differently to that he was used to, but a spell it was. It was quite different to the spells he had previously been able to learn, but because he knew that Netherese Magic functioned differently to the Sorcerous Magic he was familiar with (and he reasoned that he did have some Netherese Blood flowing through him), he found it plausible that he could learn such a spell. One that would otherwise be well outside his particular set of capabilities.

Excited with this discovery, he vowed to return to the study of his heirlooms with renewed vigour, and having gleaned as much benefit as he could from that particular learning institute, he departed shortly afterwards. His intent being to train himself up so that he may learn the spell of his ancestors, and to search for another learning institution that could bring him that much closer to understanding his ancestors and their extraordinary magical gift..
